A great beginner level species, D. tinctorius “Green Sipaliwini” are diurnal animals and can be observed moving about their enclosure hunting for food or exploring. They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices. Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates and are an engaging frog. Green Sips offer a unique opportunity where keeping frogs of varying colors can be achieved in the same enclosure with colors ranging from lime green to blue.

D. tinctorius “Yellowback”

A great beginner level species, D. tinctorius “Yellowback” are diurnal animals and can be observed moving about their enclosure hunting for food or exploring. They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices. Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates and are an engaging frog. Yellowbacks are very polymorphic and can add quite the variety to your vivarium group.

A great beginner level species, D. tinctorius “Robertus” are diurnal animals and can be observed moving about their enclosure hunting for food or exploring. This locality is similar in coloration to Cobalts found within the hobby but sport less blue and have a decidedly more striking side patterning. They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices. Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates and are an engaging frog. Yellowbacks are very polymorphic and can add quite the variety to your vivarium group.

Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates and are an engaging frog. Azureus can climb but do tend to stay near the substrate area and can be extremely bold frogs.

They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices. Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates and are an engaging frog. Matecho can climb but do tend to stay near the substrate area and can be extremely bold frogs.

A great beginner level species, D. leucomelas are diurnal animals and can be observed moving about their enclosure hunting for food or exploring. They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices. Adult males can be observed calling to their tank mates but can be more shy than D. tinctorius “Azureus.” D. luecomelas can also be found traversing the full height of their enclosure.

D. leucomelas “Bumble Bee”

A great beginner level species, D. auratus are diurnal animals and can be observed moving about their enclosure hunting for food or exploring. They enjoy highly humid environments typically found at the rainforest’s floor and excel at hiding under available plants and crevices.. D. auratus can also be found traversing the full height of their enclosure and may eventually become mildly bold as they adjust to their new environment.

D. auratus “Reticulated”

This is a great beginner species that is extremely bold and does well in groups (if given the proper space). As the juveniles develop they lose their black mark and transition the common orange body with black feet. As adults, males can be quite vocal.

PhylLobates Terribilis “BlackFoot”

Another great beginner dart frog species, P. vittatus can be an outgoing and very bold species in the proper environment. Males have a long, drawn out trill that is quite pleasant but not overwhelming loud. This species can be housed in small groups in order to appreciate their full behavior. P. vittatus will utilize all the space provided in a typical 18 cube or larger enclosure.

Bastimentos are a great small, dart frog to start your entry into Pumilio. They can be quite bold with the correct enclosure layout. They often prefer spending much of their time in and around bromeliads. The females of the species will raise their young in the these bromeliads until they are ready to move to land. Pumilio should only be kept in pairs as they are quire territorial as adults.

Ranitomeya imitator "Varadero"

The Varadero locality is a great spring board into the world of Ranitomeya. These thumbnail dart frogs do well in groups of 2-5 if sufficient space is provided. Some territorial behavior can be observed in some cases by the males of the species. Generally, if enough space is provide the mild aggression will pass as each frog defines their space. This species is also very bold and active throughout the daytime.

Vazolinii are a great and active Ranitomeya species found within the hobby. These little frogs do well in small groups of 2-3 when provided appropriate space. Similar to R. imitators in size, you’ll see them cruising around their enclosure looking for food, displaying mating behavior or just checking out their environment. These are a great species to keep and are hard to miss among the green foliage.

Ranitomeya vanzolinii

Variabilis are a great and active Ranitomeya species found within the hobby. These little frogs do well in small groups of 2-3 when provided appropriate space. This species is slightly larger than our Ranitomaye offerings. You’ll definitley be able to spot their lime green bodies as they cruise about their enclosure looking for food, displaying mating behavior or just checking out their environment. These are a great species to keep and are hard to miss among the green foliage.

Ranitomeya variabilis “Southern”

This species has been often referred to as “Rocket Frogs” from other keepers we’ve talked to since we obtained our breeding group. This is an apt nick name as these frogs are quite quick when moving about their enclosure. None the less, these are an enjoyable species to observe in a colony setting. A group of 5-6 will be observable at any given time of day once they acclimate to your household traffic. They have a unique rapid clicking call that matures with the frogs as they reach adulthood. Dorsal striping can range from yellow to red and even blue depending on the individual frog.
